Job Summary:

All Behavior Technicians provide Applied Behavior Analysis methodologies to children with Autism and related disabilities.  Behavior Technicians are responsible for direct implementation of skill acquisition and behavior reduction plan developed and overseen by BCBA or BCaBA. 

Behavior Technicians are expected to promote a company culture that upholds Prism’s values of creating a therapeutic environment which is accepting, engaging, safe, and collaborative, while ALWAYS respecting client dignity and maintaining treatment integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all skills outlined within the most current RBT Task List under the supervision requirements set forth by the BACB.

  • Receive and implement feedback from Clinical Supervisors to enhance own professional development.

  • Assess situations and make proper judgements.

  • Understand behavioral situation and react accordingly in an ethical manner.

  • Objectively analyze crisis situations

  • Respond quickly to emergency situations.

  • Communicate effectively and make recommendations to various agency staff.

  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form with a diverse group of clients, parents/ caregivers, school personnel, and other agency staff.

  • Perform general clerical duties including maintaining accurate client records and preparing clear and concise reports.

  • Use a computer and behavioral software to prepare documents and maintain client records.

  • Work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines.

  • Work with a diverse team of professionals in a respectful and collaborative manner.

  • Supervise clients during treatment sessions.

  • Utilize time management skills and organizational skills

  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma

  2. Willing to obtain RBT certification within 120 days of employment. Prism will assist with training and supervision necessary for your certification examination.

  3. Willing to work with individuals that may require oversight of complicated behaviors

  4. Computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. RBT Certification

  2. Experience working with individuals with disabilities

  3. Associates, Bachelors, Master’s degree or pursuing in child development, sociology, psychiatric or social work

Physical Demands: 

The physical demands and characteristics of the work environment described here are representative of those that will be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently.

  • Required to perform activities that entail, but not limited to: playing with children, running, kneeling, sitting on floor, and standing.

  • Physically willing and able to comply with job duties while responding to challenging behaviors. This may include, but is not limited to: physical aggression, property destruction, inappropriate language, etc.

  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.
